Sourdough in your pipes can become a serious (and expensive!) problem. I use a NET DRAIN FILTER COVER to prevent particles from building up in my sink and plumbing.
Simply purchase in bulk and keep a jar of them handy under the sink. Add a new one prior to making sourdough, and when all cleaned up, simply pull from the drain and throw it in the trash.
